Supported Housing

We work with vulnerable people with support needs, who are homeless or at risk from homelessness, to promote independent living skills, to bring about lifestyle changes and enhance their lives for a better future.

Our valued staff help others to achieve health and well being, establish coping strategies and personal resilience, form supportive networks and make friends, repair damaged relationships, learn to manage money and maximise their income, access suitable housing, identify and realise aspirations, access education, employment and training and put all this together for a happier life.

Typical roles within the Supported Housing team

Managerial roles

Service Managers You will lead the work of our staff teams, ensuring the provision of high quality, person centred support that meets service users’ needs and overseeing all aspects of the service.

Young Peoples Intensive Support Managers You will lead and develop the young people’s intensive support services, so that the staff work creatively and holistically with young people with complex needs so that they grow, change and move on to more independent living in the most appropriate way. The ability to lead, motivate and support staff teams and to develop their support work and other related practice is essential. Experience of working with people with support needs and awareness of services available to them is required, as well as sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including safeguarding.

Assistant Service Manager You will ensure that service users receive the highest standards of support and to seek ways to continuously improve the service provided. Essential Requirements – Ability to work with relevant client group, inspiring them to pursue their personal aspirations. Ability to support individual employees, motivating and helping them develop their support planning and other related work.

Support roles

Support Officer You will understand the needs of your client group and be able to offer effective support to enable them to set their own goals and devise action plans to attain these.

Young Peoples Intensive Support Worker You will work closely to support our young people to help them to develop emotional intelligence and self-understanding; to recover from issues experienced and to develop personal identity and aspirations.

Support Officer Knowledge and experience of working with the relevant client group, and an understanding of and capacity to deliver personalised support.

Young Peoples Intensive Support Worker Resilience and the ability to work therapeutically with young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours to develop life skills in all areas. Relevant qualification in youth work counselling and or mental health and willingness to work a rota.

Security roles

Night Concierge You will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the service overnight. You will enjoy working with young people and will work closely with the rest of the team to provide consistency of approach.

Older People’s Services

When you work in one of our older people’s services teams, everyday is a rewarding one. In our residential care homes you will provide individual care for our elderly residents and will be part of our experienced teams trained in dementia care. In our Housing With Care and local community support services you will support the elderly in both our schemes and communities to lead fulfilling lives confidently and as independently as possible.

Typical roles within Older People's Services

Managerial roles

Care Home Manager You will have overall responsibility for ensuring the Care Home meets the legislative requirements, providing strong leadership; behaviour which ensures a viable business, enables and encourages employees to provide customer focused care at all times and develops employees to their full potential. Essential Requirements – Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care or willing to achieve the qualification. Proven track record in senior management role in a relevant care setting.

Deputy Care Home Manager You will work collaboratively with the Care Home Manager to manage the day-to-day organisation of the Care Home, ensuring that we provide high standards of care and welfare. In their absence you will take overall accountability for this. Essential Requirements – Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care or willing to achieve the qualification.

Extra Care Services Manager You will have overall responsibility to manage and improve the services and support provided within Extra Care Schemes and the community, thereby enhancing the quality of life and health of service users. Essential Requirements – Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care. Proven track record of leading and managing a Care Home/Extra Care Scheme and ability to fulfil the requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the delivery of Extra Care Schemes.

Care and Support Manager You will manage the day-to-day operation of an Extra Care Scheme; assisting tenants to develop and maintain an independent lifestyle, as well as supporting those in the community. Essential Requirements – Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent. Proven track record of leading and managing a team in a care setting. To be fully aware of the requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the delivery of Home Care services.

OPS Business Manager You will work closely with the care home managers to assist with business development; ensuring services meet the needs of residents, families and the local community. Leading and managing the admin team across three sites. Essential Requirements – NVQ/Diploma in Business Studies (or equivalent), strong IT skills and proven experience of leading and managing a small team, together with effective communication skills.Lead Practitioner in Care You will provide responsive information, training and monitoring services to help support the Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the home. You will provide advice, coaching and support to team members. Essential Requirements – Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or willing to study towards the qualification. Day Care Assistant (Day or Night) You will deliver care and support to the residents in responsible way which respects the rights and dignity of the individual and promotes independence. Essential Requirements – Ideally Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care; however, we will support your study towards this qualification.

Operational roles

Care Homes Administrator You will provide a high standard front-of-house facility, including dealing with telephone enquiries, responding to face-to-face enquiries from residents, families and health professionals. You will provide administrative support to the home as well as maintaining databases. Essential Requirements – Competent in the use of MS Office packages, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and an understanding of the Data Protection Act. Familiarity with benefits system as appropriate to residential care for the elderly.

Senior Housekeeper You will be responsible for organising the daily work of the housekeeping team, auditing, ordering & stock control duties and ensuring a high quality service is delivered. Essential Requirements – Ability to work well as a leader to inspire and motivate the Housekeeping team, as well as an understanding the needs of older people.

Housekeeper You will provide residents with a high level and individualised housekeeping service, taking into consideration their independence and carry out cleaning duties in a manner that is supportive of this. Essential Requirements – Ability to plan and organise own work-load effectively to ensure that routine tasks are carried out promptly. An understanding of the needs of older people.

Cook To prepare good quality, nutritionally balanced meals using fresh in season produce whenever possible, ensuring attractive presentation for residents (and staff when required) and keep accurate records. You will also supervise other kitchen staff and provide appropriate training.

Catering Assistant You will assist the cook in the preparation of nutritionally balanced meals for residents (and staff when required. You will assist in ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and safety are maintained. Essential Requirements – An awareness Health and Safety and food hygiene standards and regulations. An understanding of the dietary and social needs of older people.

Laundry Assistant You will be responsible for laundering all linen, bedding and resident’s personal clothing, taking into consideration their independence and carry out duties in a manner that is supportive of this. Essential Requirements – Ability to plan and organise own work-load effectively to ensure that routine tasks are carried out promptly. An understanding of the needs of older people.

Extra Care Co-Ordinator You will support the Home Care Service Team through the provision of effective and efficient administration, secretarial and reception services. This will include employee’s timesheets, investigating any discrepancies and maintaining appropriate care and support records. Essential Requirements – Competent in the use of MS Office packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and an understanding of the Data Protection Act.

Administrative Officer You will support the CHS Home Care Service Team through the provision of effective and efficient administration, secretarial and reception services. This will include maintaining appropriate care and support records; ensuring domiciliary care hours are invoiced; and assisting the Care Services Management team with the care team rotas. Essential Requirements – Competent in the use of MS Office packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and an understanding of the Data Protection Act. Familiarity with benefits system as appropriate to residential care for the elderly.

Housing Officer You will be the principal link between tenants, applicants and the housing, property and care services teams, dealing with enquiries and providing information and support. You will also promote and co-ordinate social activities amongst residents and to develop links with the local communities. Essential Requirements – An understanding of older people’s health issues; services available to them and a working knowledge of welfare benefits for older people.

Housing and Customer Services

We take pride in providing good quality, well maintained homes with good value for money. Our housing management service is personal and flexible – and our housing team is responsible for managing its ‘patch’ which means we get to know our customers.

The Property Services Team within CHS is responsible for providing and repairs and maintenance service to our many customers. Our dedicated customer services team is the one-stop shop for all customer enquiries.

The typical roles we have within Housing and Customer Services

Head of Housing and Customer Services

You will lead and manage the Housing Team to ensure that a first class housing management and frontline service for all customers is developed and delivered, in partnership with customers, whilst providing strategic advice relating to housing management and customer services to the Board and Management Team. You will also lead and manage the Customer Services Team that provides a first point of contact for the organisation including dealing with housing and repairs related queries from customers by telephone, email and through our website. Essential Requirements – You will have proven leadership skills to develop and deliver customer-focused housing and customer care service and the ability to advise the Board and Senior Management Team on national and local policy developments regarding housing services and the implications for CHS.

Housing Manager

You will assist the Head of Housing to ensure a first class housing management service is developed and delivered in partnership with customers to maximise customer satisfaction. You will lead and mentor the Housing Officer Team to ensure they are effective and perform to the highest possible standards. Essential Requirements – You will have a proven track record of leading and managing a team; experience of housing management and sound knowledge of the social housing environment; and the drive to improve performance in these areas.

Housing Officer

You will deliver a high quality housing management service in the social housing and shared ownership services, achieving a high level of customer satisfaction and assisting customers to successfully sustain their tenancies. This will be achieved by responding creatively and confidently to customers’ needs. Essential Requirements – you will have excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills, with an understanding of social housing issues, income and welfare issues and services available to them.

Housing Assistant

You will provide administrative support to the Housing Management Team generally and in relation to specific responsibilities including income management. You will be the first point of contact for customers with standard queries and provide good quality, knowledgeable advice. Essential Requirements – You will have excellent organisational, oral and written communication skills, together with applied knowledge of social housing and customer care and quality issues.

Tenancy Support Officer

You will deliver ongoing or short term support for customers with support needs or who need unusually intensive housing management input. This will be assessed by carrying out initial assessments and agreed support plans which are person centred and focus on achieving positive outcomes. Essential Requirements – You will have in-depth experience of working with people who need support and the ability to tailor your communication style with customers according to their needs and challenges. This will be achieved through a sensitive approach with customers, colleagues and stakeholders alike.

Customer Services Manager

You will lead the delivery of our first class customer focused service which is the main point of contact for all callers. You will take responsibility for managing and developing the Customer Services Advisors, fostering a culture of excellence. Essential Requirements – You will have proven experience of delivering an effective customer-focused service and budget management; monitoring performance against agreed targets to take appropriate action to improve performance as necessary.

Customer Services Advisor

You will deliver a first class customer-focused service to customers about a range of issues, mainly by phone and wherever possible resolving the enquiry in full to the customer’s satisfaction. You will also provide administrative support to the Housing Management and Property Services Teams. Essential Requirements – You will be able to assertively negotiate with customers in a confident manner, whilst exercising discretion and diplomacy at all times. You will be competent in the use of MS Office packages.
