Young People’s Intensive Support Worker

Salary £28,512.00 per annum, pro rata     (based on a 37.5 hour week)

33hrs per week over a 4 week rota pattern, including some evenings and weekends

204 provides supported accommodation for young people aged 16-17yrs who are Looked After Children in Wisbech

What you’ll do

Our Support Officers are instrumental to our service, and we are looking for resilient and proactive staff who have an awareness of trauma informed approaches, and can respond appropriately to challenging and risk taking behaviours.

This post will primarily be involved in one to one support sessions. You will be expected to work with specific young people, and develop support plans which are reflective and focused on developing independent living skills.

There will be periods of Lone Working, and managing the immediate support needs, sometimes providing crisis intervention and guidance. You will be expected to work closely with partner organisations to manage missing persons, unauthorised absences and safeguarding concerns.

You will also contribute to the day-to-day running of the project.  This will include the health and safety of the building, welfare checks, encouraging routine, supporting young people to attend college or appointments, embedding the boundaries and rules of the project.

About you

It is essential that you can multitask, prioritise work, be an effective communicator and competently use ICT systems.  It is essential that you have a non-judgmental, calm and supportive approach. A relevant qualification in youth work, counselling and or mental health is essential.

No care experience or qualification is necessary as you will be fully trained on the job.  For those staff wishing to develop and obtain a qualification, we offer a level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and recognise this achievement with a higher rate of pay of £10.99 per hour

What you’ll do
