Moorlands Court

Moorlands Court is a purpose built Housing with Care scheme for older people located in the lovely village of Melbourn, just 10 miles from Cambridge and Royston.

At Moorlands Court you have access to

  • 1 or 2 bed room self contained flat with your own kitchen, bathroom, own front door – have control over who comes into your home
  • Live independently with an additional support plan available when you need it at an additional cost of £23.94 per hour. Our carers could help with
    • Getting up or help to bed
    • Personal care washing, showering and dressing
    • Continence care
    • Preparing meals and drinks
    • Medication
    • Sitting service
  • Visitors can stay with you overnight or can stay in our guest room
  • Lunch is provided each day with tenants or carers cooking and preparing breakfast and evening meals in your home
  • You can bring your existing furniture with you
  • Choice of additional services including laundry, housekeeping, hairdressers and shopping
  • Communal lounges and gardens
  • Choice of activities including music, entertainment, BBQs, sporting events, themed events – up to you whether you get involved or not
  • Home for life – Assured tenancy
  • Day centre offering a wide selection of activities, suitable for all – a friendly and sociable atmosphere

Prices for a 1-bedroom flat per week

£329.93* for single occupancy and £364.85* for a couple

Prices for a 2-bedroom flat per week

£339.18* for single occupancy and£374.10* for a couple

Care is charged at £23.94 per hour

Depending on who your care is arranged by, there may be a ‘peace of mind’ charge of £16.90 a week from Cambridge County Council

Who pays for my care costs?

If you have savings:

Less than £14,250, the Local Authority will pay your care costs

Between £14,250-£23,250, you will pay a contribution towards your care costs

Over £23,250, you will need all your care costs yourself

*charges include rent, service charge, personal heating, support charge, water charge and a lunch daily

Our staff have all undergone extensive checks prior to employment to ensure that they have the skills and qualities that regulators require when working with older and vulnerable people. They are trained in:

  • Health & safety
  • Food hygiene
  • Basic first aid
  • Abuse awareness (safeguarding)
  • Infection control
  • Care Certificate
  • As well as other bespoke training as required.
