We have received our latest regulatory judgement from the UK’s Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and are pleased to have maintained our G1 and V1 ratings and received a C2 consumer grade.
The regulatory judgement, which was published today, 24th June 2026, confirms our existing G1 grade for governance and V1 grade for financial viability. The C2 consumer rating means that we are meeting expectations with our current planned projects and corporate plan.
The RSH judgement recognises the progress already made to strengthen two key focus areas: our repairs service and the tailoring of services using customer data, and that time is required to fully demonstrate their positive impact. We are confident that, as we progress, we will deliver outcomes that fully meet the needs and expectations of our tenants.
The RSH inspects and evaluates registered housing providers in England every three to five years against statutory and consumer standards to drive operational excellence, tenant safety, and robust regulation in the social housing sector. Following an inspection, RSH issues grades ranging from 1 to 4 which cover consumer standards (service delivery), governance (board and management effectiveness), and financial viability (financial health of organisation).
This is the first time we have been assessed under the new RSH consumer (C) rating framework which was implemented in April 2024 to evaluate how well social landlords comply with its national consumer standards including: neighbourhood and community; safety and quality; tenancy; and transparency, influence and accountability.
Martin Wheatley, Chair of CHS Board said: “We are pleased to have maintained our G1 and V1 ratings, which reflect our well-governed and financially stable organisation, particularly in the context of the cost of living crisis and economic uncertainty. The inspectors were complimentary of our organisation and teams, which is testament to our staff who work hard every day to ensure we are consistently meeting the expectations of our tenants.”.

Chris Harris, Chief Executive of CHS added “Our C2 consumer rating is an honest reflection of where we are on our journey to reach a C1 rating. The aspects of our performance which meant that we did not attain the highest (C1) grading are, that the steps we have taken to improve our data on customers, and work with our repairs contractor to achieve our intended levels of service on repairs, have not yet got us where we need to be.
The Regulator was assured about the direction we are heading and is looking forward to us further evidencing outcomes from this work. We are particularly pleased that the Regulator acknowledged the positive impact our Tenant Involvement members have had on improving our services.”
