Sheltered (Retirement) Housing

CHS has 3 schemes, built with those over 55 in mind. This is sometimes known as sheltered housing, and includes a number of special features to make life easier. Click here to view a brochure giving more details. This type of accommodation often suits people who are finding the management and maintenance of their home and garden increasingly difficult and /or wish to downsize or move closer to their family.

An Lac House – Older Vietnamese People

CHS works in partnership with Abbeyfield Cambridge Vietnamese Society (ACVS) to provide a supported living home for 10 older Vietnamese people. ACVS provides the support and housing management services. The accommodation is bed-sitting rooms with en-suite bathrooms and living areas and garden. There is also a small temple and an in-house cook provides traditional Vietnamese meals. ACVS provide the support and help to arrange any personal care services required by residents. Sheltered Housing - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a place?

All applications need to be made via Home-Link, which is the local Housing Authority choice based lettings scheme. Full details on how to register can be found on the Home-Link website.

How are places advertised?

When vacancies arise, they are advertised on the Home-Link scheme and applicants have to bid for their preferred properties.

How much is the rent?

Rents for individual properties vary and are shown on Home-Link. These are correct at the time of advertising.

What are the requirements for applying?

Open to anyone over 55 years old; priority will be given to people with a Milton, or Cambridge City connection.

Our staff have undergone extensive checks prior to employment to ensure that they have the skills and qualities we require when working with older and vulnerable people. They are trained in moving & handling, health & safety, food hygiene, basic first aid, abuse awareness (safeguarding), administering medicine, infection control and the care certificate as well as other bespoke training as required.
