New Horizons

If you live in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough or West Norfolk and money problems are preventing you from getting back to work, we may be able to help you through New Horizons.

If you live in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough or West Norfolk and money problems are preventing you from getting back to work, we may be able to help you through New Horizons. It is part of Building Better Opportunities programme funded by Big Lottery and the European Social Fund. If you live in the area, we can help you tackle your money problems, get online and get closer to finding paid work.

Our New Horizons coaches offer:

  • One-to-one support in the home or at a local venue for people
  • Up to 20 hours coaching on money, work and getting online
  • A chromebook loan scheme for eligible participants. To access the
service you must have the right to live and work in the UK, and not
be working including permitted work and zero hour contracts

The project is for people who are furthest away from employment – they might be:

  • Struggling to make ends meet
  • Have used crisis support e.g. foodbanks
  • Have significant priority debt
  • Live-in households in which no-one works
  • Be affected by benefits changes and/or are likely
to struggle when Universal Credit is introduced locally

Employment support for homeless people in Cambridge

If you know someone in Cambridge who is homeless or on the brink of homelessness and is looking for help with getting back into work, our outreach scheme could help.

Our service provides free employment advice and coaching support to homeless and vulnerably housed adults and young people within Cambridge City or with a strong connection to the city. We do it by working alongside people meeting them face to face and supporting them over a period of time to enable them to get on in life. Typically people get a job through the service or start their journey back to work through work experience, traineeships, apprenticeships, training or learning. We are well connected to other support groups in the city and so also make sure that people are connected to other relevant organisations.
